The political right in this country was (in the words of Rush Limbaugh) “gleeful” at the defeat of Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics. The news room at the conservative publication Weekly Standard erupted in cheers at the news that Chicago lost to Rio, and the Drudge Report headlined with “World Rejects Obama”.

Over the weekend I listened to a myriad of conservative talking heads as they gloated over this country’s loss because they believe that it will hurt the President’s standing in the world.

President Obama’s intellect, clear thinking, grace under fire, and ability to capture people’s imagination has engulfed conservative leaders in a shroud of fear and gloom. It seems that they would rather bring down the country than see it prosper under his leadership. Disgusting! (Please add your comments at the bottom of the page)
