Fox News – Talk About Lies

Is Fox News your primary news source? If so, please think about expanding your horizons.  As a partisan, anti-Obama organizer Fox does a superb job. But as a source of reliable news the network is awful. Their commentators seem to have the single goal of bringing down the progressive movement rather than giving you the news you need to make up your own mind.  Roger Ailes, their chief executive, likened his network to the Alamo, a last line of defense.

They are frantic in their advocacy of “tea party” protests, urging viewers to participate; they relentlessly attack appointees of the Obama administration and implore their viewers to fight against progressive policies.  Talking heads like Sean Hannity, Karl Rove, Glen Beck and a lineup of others do not try to cloak their shameless, partisan diatribes in even a small measure of truth.

For instance, in the President’s speech on health care he criticized health insurance companies, but said “Insurance executives are not bad people”, they just want to make a profit.  Hannity came on the air and stated that he was stunned when Obama said that “Insurance executives are bad people.”  Glen Beck said that former Obama aid Van Jones was a convicted felon who spent time in prison.

The fact is, he has never been convicted of a crime.  Beck further raised a question “Do we want communists in the United States government as special advisers to the president?” as a way of suggesting that Jones was a communist.

Talk about lies!  If you want to be pumped up with far-right fear-based anger, Fox News is for you. If you seek reliable information to help you sort through complex and difficult issues, you need to look for a different source. (offer your comment at the bottom of the page)
